Highlights from the 2008 PRCUA National Golf Tournament

(Photos) The 56TH annual PRCUA National Golf Tournament was held in Toledo, Ohio the Weekend of July 19th. 194 golfers teed it up at the Detwiler Park golf course with 8:00 am and 1:00 pm start times.

The golfers were housed at the recently opened Fairfield Inn Hotel. The PRCUA Club on Detroit Ave. in Toledo was the center of activity, with karaoke on Friday evening and the Touch of Brass polka band providing the music for The awards dance in Misiuda Hall on Saturday. A breakfast brunch was served to the golfers and other guests in Misiuda Hall on Sunday morning.

The weather was rainy on Saturday morning and showers were in the area most of the day, but both rounds were played without any interruption. After last year’s rainout at the national softball tournament held at the same Detwiler complex, the Toledo golf committee was a little concerned about another washout.

It never rains on the golf course!

On Saturday evening, winners were announced by co –chairman Paul Wenzel. Congratulations to the following 2008 PRCUA golf champions:

Ladies hdcp ( net ): Theresa Lader – 75; Ladies senior: Sherry Okorowski – 89.
Ladies scratch: Lorrie Lambert – 90; On the men’s side: A- flight: Mike Koperski – 70
B-flight: Mike Sepanski – 77; C-flight: Pat Cassidy – 82; D-flight: Larry Dzienny Jr. – 88. E-flight: Steve Rusher – 87; Men’s senior: Don Leggett – 82; Men’s super
senior: Jim Lusiak – 82.

PRCUA Toledo would like to thank all the members who came to Toledo to participate in the tournament.Also, thanks to everyone who sponsored a hole or supported the tournament with an ad for our ad book.

The tournament committee would also like to thank our members who worked so hard on the tournament: Dave & Linda Szych, Sharon Hubbard, Ron Zawisza, Larry Cieniewski, Gary Boes, Theresa Gibala, Tom ( too cool ) Slandzicki, Tina Podbielniak, National Director District #5 Joan Sylak, Doris Rober, Norb Brown, Don Olejnik Jr., Maryanna Oien, Vikki Mixon, Chrissy Crooks, Tom Banasiak, Virginia Krasniewski. Also, behind the scenes our bar manager Ray Malinowski, bartenders Natalie Roesner and Terry Krasniewski, Don Leggett taking care of the lawn and outside cleanup, and Rick Kaczmarek for getting Misiuda Hall painted and looking good. Thanks to our chaplain FatherRichard Philiposki S. Ch. For being with us to offer benediction for our members and friends.
