A Successful Fundraiser for the PRCUA Education
Fund
(Photos) Small hats!
Big hats! Elegant hats! Unique hats! Most of those who attended the
PRCUA Education Fund luncheon “Hats off to our scholars” on Thursday
August 7 were in the spirit of the theme of the event and wore a variety
of hats.
Before the Program began, everyone had the
chance of winning a door prize by selecting a wrapped ruler. Those that
selected a ruler with a number on it were the lucky ones who won a
prize. During this time, PRCUA employees, Kevin Ryba and Bill Seranko,
dressed in suits and matching hats, did a superb job serving wine to our
guests. The ladies, especially, enjoyed being waited on in such a deluxe
fashion.
The Program began with a welcome by MC,
Joseph Boruta, former PRCUA National Treasurer and former Director of
District #7. He then called upon Bill Seranko, PRCUA Supervisor District
1 and PRCUA AML Compliance Officer to give the Invocation which was
followed by a delicious Buffet luncheon catered by Kasia’s Deli.
As the refreshing dessert of ice cream was
being served by our handsome waiters, Bill Seranko and Kevin RYba.
Krystyna Kowalik, a PRCUA Scholarship recipient performed eight
selections of music on the violin. She is a very talented young lady and
everyone enjoyed her musical performance.
After Krystyna performed, Wallace Ozog,
PRCUA National President was called upon to say a few words on the PRCUA
Education Fund. Then to see how important this financial assistance is
to those who attend schools of higher education, Conrad Borkowski,
Michael Budzinski and Krystyna Kowalik, all PRCUA Scholarship recipients
spoke on the importance of receiving assistance from PRCUA and also
expressed their gratitude. They all stated that with the escalating
costs of a good education, whatever they receive helps them attain their
goal.
Lucia Seranko, Co-chairperson of the event
and Martha Kwiatt, Committee member were called upon to announce the
winners of the most elegant hat and the most unique one. Joan Flor
unanimously won a beautiful pink tote bag for the most elegant. It was
more difficult to select the most unique. Many of the attendees were in
the spirit of the hat theme and they put on their thinking caps to be
creative. It was a difficult decision to select a winner. Barbara
Pawlowski put together a “Narod Polski” hat, Felicia Krupinski created a
“Money” hat and Elizabeth Grabowski had a colorful “Flower” hat”. The
audience was called upon to vote for the most unique and their choice
was Felicia’s money hat which Felicia generously turned over to Mr. Ozog
for the scholarship fund. We thank Mrs. Krupinski for her donation of
$204.00.
Committee member, Ken Gill then presented
a seven question quiz to the guests. The person who had the most
questions correct at each table won the decorative centerpiece made by
Co-chairperson Lucia Seranko. The centerpieces emphasized the hat theme
with a figurine of a man and a woman wearing hats, displayed on a
cutting board donated by PRCUA National Director Krystyna Lech and
husband Thaddeus. We appreciate the work and time that went into these
centerpieces and hope that the winners will enjoy them.
After Bill Seranko said the Benediction,
Wallace Ozog conducted a Raffle with thirty-three prizes. A special
thank you goes out to the donors of these prizes and to those who
purchased tickets, especially, past PRCUA Scholarship recipients, PRCUA
National Directors, PRCUA employees, participants of the National PRCUA
Golf Tournament and also the luncheon participants.
This was the first fundraiser of this type
for the PRCUA Education Fund. This fundraiser included a luncheon with
eighty participants, a raffle and donations. The net proceeds realized
was $35,558.33. The success of this fundraiser was due to the
cooperation, time and energy of the committee members and the PMA and
PRCUA employees and to the generosity of those who attended the
luncheon, who purchased raffle tickets and who made donations,
especially Matthew Sularski, Barbara Rosol and anonymous. You should be
proud of yourselves. You will make a difference for many students who
are trying to get an education at a very expensive price.
Donations are accepted for the PRCUA
Education Fund throughout the year. Checks are to be made payable to
PRCUA Education Fund and sent to:
