Net Capital Gains Improve
Our involvement in the
stock and bond markets over the past year has boosted our net realized
capital gains dramatically to make the year 2004 our best year ever in this
category. Last year the PRCUA set the all time record at a net realized
capital gains of $2,383,899.76. This was a 11.1% increase over 2003 gave us
$239,347.96 more in capital gains compared to 2003.
Over the past 18 years,
PRCUA has been involved in both the stock market as well as the bond market.
Within that time, there has been only one year, 1990, in which we did not
achieve any capital gains.
This astounding
accomplishment provides comfort in an unstable market. This is a record in
which we are very proud to succeed. We hope for continued success in 2005
and for many years to come.
