PRCUA Kicks-Off Matching Funds
Campaign
in Support of Pope John Paul Cultural Center
CHICAGO, IL -
JULY 20, 2000 - The Executive Officers and Board of Directors of the PRCUA
have announced the year 2000 Matching Funds Program in support of the Pope
John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. For every dollar collected
at the PRCUA home office, the PRCUA will donate an equal amount toward the
Center, up to a total sum of $50,000 in 2000.
Over the past five years,
many members of the PRCUA have contributed to the development of a this
institution in our nation's capital honoring Pope John Paul II and
encouraging a dialogue between the religious faithful and the secular
culture in our society. The Pope John Paul II Cultural Center is nearly
completed and scheduled to open this fall.
The Polish Roman Catholic
Union of America has established a goal of raising $600,000 from its members
to help build the Center. In total, the Cultural Center has raised over $55
million of its $65 million campaign goal. Thanks to hundreds of donors, the
PRCUA has already contributed more than $300,000 toward the establishment of
this important institution.
Within the next three
years, the PRCUA hopes to fulfill its pledge by donating another $300,000.
That pledge can be broken down into $100,000 per year for three years or
$50,000 from the PRCUA organization in matching funds and $50,000 in
contributions from members and friends.
Please consider making a
gift that will help the PRCUA reach our $600,000 goal. When we achieve our
fund raising goal, the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America will be
recognized in the Resolution Café and on the list of Founding Trustees as a
Cardinal Patron of the Center. This commemoration will be a permanent
recognition of the gifts made by PRCUA members.
If each PRCUA member
contributes $100 or more, we will have a tremendous effect on the founding
of the Cultural Center and play a major part in honoring the Holy Father.
Persons donating $100 or more will also be recognized individually in the
Center at the following levels:
 |

$100 |

The Center will be a highly
visible institution ensuring that a Catholic perspective will have a
prominent place in our national discussion of morals, ethical and spiritual
issues. It will house distinguished resident scholars who will research,
discuss, teach and write about the life and ministry of Pope John Paul II.
The Center will include a museum detailing the story of the papacy, with
special emphasis on the life and ministry of Pope John Paul II. It will be a
cultural center and will focus on the Pope’s inspiring message of peace,
justice, love and respect for every human person.
It is the sincere hope of
the Executive Board of the PRCUA that our members will consider the mission
of the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center as worthy of your support.
A letter from President
Wallace M. Ozog will be mailed shortly to all PRCUA members requesting your
support for this worthwhile project. For more information on the Center,
