This is my 12th consecutive State of the Union message to our members
and it is one of the most difficult reports presented. This report is a
reflection of the economic condition of our nation, as well as the
world. No longer can we, as individuals or as an organization, be
isolated from the actions of our leaders, either in Washington or
internationally.

Cinderella – Prince Charming Ball: The M. Konopnicka Adult
Culture Group of the PRCUA held its annual Cinderella-Prince Charming
Ball at the Lexington House in Hickory Hills, IL, on November 21, 2009.
This elegant event has been a time honored tradition for over 38 years,
and this year brought the presentation of 42 Candidates and the
attendance of over 500 guests.

Establishes a Haiti Relief Fund: A 7.0 magnitude earthquake
ripped Haiti on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. This quake caused much
destruction and widespread casualties. This powerful quake was the first

Traditional IRA Could Now be Rolled Over into an IRA Roth:
Starting January 1, 2010, a new tax law will be in effect in which the
$100,000 adjusted gross income limit disappears for converting
Traditional Individual Retirement Accounts and employer sponsored
retirement plans to a Roth IRA.

Illinois-Indiana Women’s Division of the PRCUA held its Oplatek
Christmas get-together at Candlelight Banquets in Chicago Ridge, IL. It

Ozog, Director Lech and Res. V.P. Anna Sokolowski warmly welcomed guests
to the holiday event.

Back by popular demand, the four Polish fraternals - PRCUA, Polish
National Alliance, Polish Women’s Alliance of American and Polish
Falcons - have organized another "Dozin' with the Dinos" - a
Polish-American group overnight outing at Chicago's Field Museum on
Friday, February 5, 2010.

Polish American Heritage Polish Custom Essay Contest: The Polish
American Heritage Polish Custom Essay Contest sponsored by Polish Roman
Catholic Union of America (PRCUA) First Lady, Joann Ozog had fifty-eight
entries from the states of Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio,
Florida, Indiana, New Jersey and Wisconsin. Participants ranged in age
from adulthood to the younger ones who attended second grade.
Employees from Home Office (Chicago Illinois), as well as from the
Satellite offices in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio also were able to
enter.

Coloring Contest Winners–2009: Each year PRCUA sponsors coloring
contest in October – Polish American Heritage Month – for PRCUA Juvenile
members. The subject of this year was “160 Anniversary of the death of
Frederic Chopin” and we paid a tribute to the Polish composer of
classical music and virtuoso pianist. His music ranged from patriotic
and passionate to simple and beautiful, and he was known as a great
teacher of piano during his lifetime.

Polish America Family Night with the Chicago Bulls
will be held at the United Center on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at
7:00pm. On this special night, all Polish American families and friends
will have the opportunity to experience a great night out at a Bulls'
game at half price. Tickets which are regularly $46 are available for

Wspolnota Polska Contest Winners’ Essays: In May,
Narod Polski ran an announcement about a contest whereby the Polish
organization "Wspolnota Polska” offered Polish American youths a chance
to visit Poland for two weeks and acquaint them with the country of
their roots, to learn about Polish heritage, art, culture, architecture
and everyday life in Poland. The PRCUA selected 6 members at random to
participate in that program. PRCUA Res. V.P. Anna Sokolowski asked them
to write a essay about their trip.

President Ozog is Hamtramck Parade Grand Marshal:
Hamtramck, Michigan celebrated the end of summer with its Annual Polish
Day Festival and Parade that marched down Joseph Campau Street on Labor Day,
Monday, September 7. The weather was nice – rain was predicted but it
held off until after the parade. Organizers reported that the crowd in
attendance was the largest it’s been in the past five years.

that consisted of Felicia Krupinski, Kenneth P. Gill and Iwona Piacenti
selected recipients from the PRCUA Education Fund, Inc. awarding
twenty-six approved scholarships for a total of $12,000.00.

Union of America’s 137th year of service to our members and the greater

Annual Sacred Heart Mass in District 8: After two weeks of
rain, the PRCUA was blessed with beautiful weather on Sunday, June 14th
for the Annual Sacred Heart Mass in memory of living and deceased PRCUA
members. The Mass was held at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Woods Church in
Orland Park, IL, thanks to the cooperation of Rev. Michael W. O'Connell,
Pastor.

2009 Illinois-Indiana Women’s Division Annual Swiecone: On
April 26, 2009, the Illinois-Indiana Women’s Division of the Fraternal
Department of the PRCUA held their annual Swiecone at the Lido Banquets
in Chicago, IL. The afternoon began with a greeting and prayer by
Illinois-Indiana Women’s Division President Geraldine Kowalski. Everyone
then enjoyed a delicious luncheon at tables that were brightly decorated
with a Spring theme.

72nd National PRCUA Bowling Tournament Was One for the History Books:
The 72nd National PRCUA Bowling Tournament was held on April 17-19, 2009
at the New Glass Bowl Lanes in Toledo, OH. Forty-eight teams
participated in this event. Many of our bowlers took advantage of the
high scoring conditions in this house and "SHOT THE LIGHTS OUT"!! There
were not one, not two, but THREE 300 games shot!

Support Our Youth by Supporting the PRCUA Education Fund, Inc.:
The cost of higher education is increasing at a rapid pace with each
passing year. It becomes more difficult for students to attend school
and at the same time, work to pay the bills. It is because of financial
assistance from organizations like the Polish Roman Catholic Union of
America that students are able to
attend college and concentrate more on school work rather than go into the
work world to pay for their schooling.

PRCUA Education Fund Partners with Jewel Osco on Pulaski Day
Scholarship: The Polish Roman Catholic Union of America
Education Fund, Inc. is pleased to announce their new partnership with
Jewel Osco. Jewel Osco, sponsors of the Pulaski Day Scholarship, have
chosen the PRCUA Education Fund to facilitate the annual scholarship.
The scholarship will be presented at the Official State of Illinois
Pulaski Day Celebration, held in the Great Hall of the Polish Museum of
America. The PRCUA Education Fund Committee will select 5 recipients,
each of whom will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship applicable for the
2009-2010 school year. High school seniors and college students who will
be continuing their undergraduate studies are encouraged to apply.

Temporary IRS waiver from taking the 2009 Required
Minimum Distribution (RMD): On December 23, 2008, the United
States of America President signed the Worker, Retiree, and Employer
Recovery Act of 2008 (the Act) into law. Section 201 of the Act waives
any required minimum distributions (RMDs) for 2009 for IRAs. Therefore,
for 2009, you are not required to take an RMD from your IRA. This waiver
applies to participants in these plans as well as beneficiaries.
